• December 12, 2024 is the National Jr. Thespian Conference and is a full day event

Thespians (Formally titled as Academy Drama)  - Grades 6-8

"All the world's a stage and all the men and women, merely players!" This performance-based theater course will prepare students to perform at Colorado's Junior Thespian Conference on December 12th. Once a week, teachers will assist students in preparing their favorite theater pieces! Students may choose a monologue, song, duet, trio, etc from a professional stage production. Teachers will walk students through the process of selecting appropriate material, preparing movement and character, developing professional theater etiquette and more! This course will culminate in the student's attendance/performance at Jr. Thespian Conference in Denver where they will receive feedback from a panel of experts, attend workshops led by professional stage artists as well as watch a top quality production from students in the Denver area. Students enrolling in this ECA are required to at least attend Jr. Thespian Conference. If they would like to attend but not be a performer, they will still prepare material in this class as if they were going to perform. The preparation tools they learn will still be incredibly valuable and they can even potentially use it for a future audition! Enrollment and payment to attend/perform at ThesCon will be a separate sign up, more information from teachers to follow upon enrollment in Thespians.
