For Incoming Kindergarten - 1st Grade Students
IMPORTANT: THIS CLASS WILL BE HELD AT THE CASTLE PINES CAMPUS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS.
Typically children must be BOTH enrolled American Academy K-8 students in 2018-2019 AND at least 5 years old by June 5, 2018, to participate in American Academy 2018 summer camps. However, because this is a camp for incoming 2018-2019 Kindergarten students, parents may email the camp instructor (awilliams@aak8.org) to ask permission to enroll as long as the student will be 5 years old by the first day of the summer camp.
Relatives and friends of American Academy students who are not also American Academy students do not qualify to attend.
Children on the American Academy waitlist who are not enrolled by June 5, 2018, do not qualify to attend.
Children enrolled in Kindergarten for 2018-2019 but not 5 years old by June 5, 2018, do not qualify to attend.

Kindergarten and 1st Grade Prep Camp
Setting the stage for reading and math begins early. Our camp will include:
- pre- and emergent reading skills
- alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness
- story comprehension and vocabulary
- children will also be exposed to a variety of multi-sensory techniques building strong literacy skills
- number recognition, value, and 1 to 1 correspondence (1-20)
- number lines, shapes, and colors
- counting by 1 s and 10 s
- fine/gross motor skills
- PLEASE NOTE - A second week might be added, depending on enrollment numbers.
